Day 1:
Well, I always feel that start of a journey should be on a good note..So I took a train from New Delhi to Dehradun. There are many trains that run from old Delhi but are not as clean as the one which starts from New Delhi (NDLS DDN AC EXP Train No:12205). I boarded on the train at around 11 PM on 22nd April. Its departed at its correct time i.e. 11:55 PM and reached Dehradun next morning at around 6 AM.
Day 2:
As per my homework and considering myself alone, I had plan to take a bus from Dehradun to Sankri Village.
Although you will find a direct bus or two in the morning for Sankri, its not advisable as they stop after every 100 meters.
If in a group of 3-6 guys, a car or jeep can be hired for 5,000 INR.
Bus costs around 250 INR only, the journey can get too tiresome (which happened in my case). If the decision is to take a bus, its advisable to take a public transport bus till Purola and then take another bus  from Purola to Sankri ( around 65 KMs).

I reached Sankri at 4 PM in the evening on 23rd April and I was welcome with a rain and place was cold. The realization of being in the Himalayas suddenly marked its presence. Although I controlled over my emotion as I still had to find the place for accommodation for the night.

The obvious choice was GMNV ( I will simply address it as Nigam from now on) and I got the first shock of my journey.
All the room were booked !!!! :(
All hope lost in a second. I was suggested by Nigam's manager to look one more available guest house or compromise staying in his dorm.
Dorm ??? What ??? What about the privacy and old practices??
Everything looked shattered and my already tired brain and body stopped working for a while...
Then I heard some a voice saying that there is no one coming in the dorm for that night and I can stay there like a private room by paying just 165 INR, a minimal fee for one bed in the dorm.. :)
Well, that is gonna be big for a single guy and cold too...
So what to do now? well, Did I had a choice? I guess not.

Day 3:
At this point I would like to mention and dedicate my blog to one (and only one) of the co-trekker I met in Dehradun, Mr. Sudhir Kochhar.
